World premiere of 10 new jazz pieces!
Berkshires Jazz has commissioned 10 original works, one each from 10 composers, to be performed in concert as part of Pittsfield’s 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival in the Berkshire Museum's theater.
An all-star trio of Eugene Uman, piano; Mary Ann McSweeney, bass; and Conor Meehan, drums, will perform the new works, in most cases joined by the composer and one or more of their composing colleagues. Reflecting myriad styles and instruments, the works have been created by Kris Allen; Carolyn Dufraine; Jason Ennis; Anton Kot; Daryl Lowery; Pater McEachern; Mary Ann McSweeney; Joe Smith; Richard Stanmeyer; and Eugene Uman. Along with the composing pen itself, their instruments include alto and tenor saxophones, guitar, piano, bass, drums, trumpet and trombone. Aside from the rhythm section, no two groups will be the same, in this panoply of jazz excellence.
Meet-and-greet reception with cash bar to follow concert.
